HOW IT WORKS
-
. . .
Jake’s Bike Box buys and sells high end used mountain bikes. We have a large inventory of high end bikes sitting around waiting to be ridden before they head to their new homes.
Once signed up members will receive access to our inventory and can check out any bike that is available at any time.
Our inventory can be seen under the ‘Our Bikes’ tab.
Simply reserve the bike you want and Jake’s Bike Box delivers it to you.
Keep the bike as long as you want or until the bike sells. When you are ready for something else or the bike sells, just reserve another bike through our website and Jake’s Bike Box will deliver it to you.
Currently the service is available to customers in Marin. We hope to expand this soon!

Jake’s Bike Box saves its members time and money. Members enjoy unlimited access to a fleet of bikes for a fraction of the cost of owning one bike.
Mountain bikes depreciate rapidly. The average high-end mountain bike retails for just over $7,000 and depreciates by $2,700 in the first year of ownership. After that the bike drops in value by around $400 per year.
An annual tune up runs $450. Overhauling the suspension (which should be done at least once per year) is another $500.
Add in all the other costs to replace worn out parts that are not covered under an annual tuneup (bleed brakes, replace chain, replace tires and brake pads) and you are in for at least another $350. If the rear cassette needs to be replaced that is another $230 for a base level cassette, a top of line cassette runs $600!
Between depreciation, service costs and part replacement costs this adds up to $1,700, if the rear cassette needs to be replaced its now $1,930 and that is just for one bike!
Jake’s Bike Box saves its members time and money. Members enjoy unlimited access to a fleet of bikes for a fraction of the cost of owning one bike.
